A large flock of migratory Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) at the Pakshi Chugga Ghar in Khichan village, Rajasthan. Thousands of cranes can be seen feeding, resting, and constantly calling to one another, filling the air with their distinctive chirping and vocalisations. The birds are gathered inside the fenced feeding area, locally known as the Chugga Ghar, where they are protected while feeding on grains such as bajra (pearl millet) and jowar (sorghum). This feeding tradition has been maintained by the people of Khichan for decades and has helped make the village one of India's best-known destinations for observing Demoiselle Cranes.
