Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) gathers at the famous Pakshi Chugga Ghar (Bird Feeding Home) in Khichan village, Rajasthan, one of the world's most renowned community-managed feeding sites for migratory cranes. Every winter, thousands of these elegant birds, locally known as Kurja or Koonj, arrive from their breeding grounds in Central Asia, Mongolia, and southern Russia. Hundreds of grey-and-black Demoiselle Cranes fill the gravel-covered feeding enclosure while several birds soar overhead against the clear blue sky. The video also captures the natural calls and vocalizations of the cranes as they communicate with one another, creating the characteristic soundscape of this internationally recognized bird congregation.
