A flock of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) at the Pakshi Chugga Ghar (Bird Feeding Home) in Khichan village, near Phalodi, Rajasthan, India. Thousands of these migratory cranes, locally known as Kurja or Koonj, gather at the community-managed feeding enclosure during their annual winter migration from breeding grounds in Central Asia, Mongolia, and southern Russia. Throughout the video, the birds can be heard calling while resting and moving around the feeding area, a characteristic part of their social communication. The Khichan community has maintained a long-standing tradition of feeding the cranes, with volunteers scattering sorghum (jowar) each morning to support the migratory flock.
