A massive flock of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) at Pakshi Chugga Ghar in Khichan village, Rajasthan. Known locally as Kurja, these migratory birds travel thousands of kilometres from Central Asia, Mongolia, and other parts of Eurasia to spend the winter in the Thar Desert. Hundreds of cranes feeding together inside the dedicated Chugga Ghar, a fenced feeding enclosure built to protect the birds from predators such as stray dogs. Every day, local villagers provide grains like millet and sorghum, continuing a tradition that has helped Khichan become one of India's best-known destinations for observing Demoiselle Cranes. Traditional Rajasthani houses and stone boundary walls surrounding the feeding area highlight the close relationship between the village and these migratory birds,
