A Coppersmith Barbet is observed at the entrance of a circular nest cavity in Wilderness Orchard. The bird cautiously peeks out from the hollow, carefully scanning its surroundings before emerging. Upon exiting, it clings tightly to the tree trunk near the nest entrance, remaining alert and vigilant. The barbet then retreats back into the cavity and repeats the behavior, appearing to check for potential threats or activity around the nest site. After emerging once again, the bird finally leaves the cavity and flies away. An intimate glimpse into the nesting and vigilance behavior of one of India's most recognizable barbets, known for its metallic "coppersmith" call and colorful facial markings.
