A Brown-headed Barbet (Psilopogon zeylanicus) keeps hammering on a tree with its beak, while soft bird chirping and distant insect sounds fill the background. Moving from tree to tree, it flies, settles, and continues its focused effort. When a Brown-headed Barbet strikes its beak against a trunk, it is either carving out a nesting cavity or searching for insects hidden under the bark. When it sits, sometimes the tree’s green leaves gently frame the top of its head, giving a calm and natural look to the moment. In the field beyond, a glimmer of a Red-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus indicus) rests alertly, its red wattles standing out against the earthy landscape.
