April in the orchard, and almost every tree is occupied. We spent two mornings filming the nesting activity here, and what struck us was how differently each species solves the same problem. A Rose-ringed Parakeet works a hollow high in the trunk — watch how it reverses in, tail first, the long green tail feathers folding awkwardly through the gap. The Brown-headed Barbet appears at the cavity mouth with its bill crammed full of chewed wood, tosses the load clear of the trunk, and drops away into the canopy — then comes back and does it again. Lower down, a female Purple Sunbird sits deep inside her hanging nest, a scruffy teardrop of grass, bark shavings, and spider silk that looks like debris caught in a branch.
