A pair of Red-wattled Lapwing is seen standing alert in their natural habitat, a familiar sight across the Indian subcontinent. Easily recognized by their striking black, white, and brown plumage, bright red facial wattles, and yellow legs, these ground-dwelling birds are known for their loud, sharp alarm calls—often earning them the nickname “did-you-do-it” bird. Pairs are usually seen together during the breeding season, maintaining strong territorial bonds and actively guarding their nesting area.
