A mating pair of Red-wattled Lapwing is observed on dry, open ground in Wilderness Orchard. The habitat consists of scattered pebbles, fallen leaves, sparse patches of green grass, and a rough rocky backdrop that provides a natural setting for these alert ground-dwelling birds. The lapwings remain close together, displaying the strong pair bond typical of the breeding season. In another glimpse, one of the birds roams across the ground before pausing to carefully scan its surroundings.
