A Red-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus indicus) is seen actively foraging on the ground in Wilderness Orchard, moving across a thick carpet of dry brown leaves scattered over a grassy patch. Known for their alert nature and distinctive calls, these ground-dwelling birds spend much of their time searching for insects, worms, and other small invertebrates hidden among vegetation and leaf litter. In one sequence, the lapwing uses its bill to pull at blades of grass and toss them aside, carefully inspecting the ground beneath for potential prey. This methodical behavior highlights the bird's feeding strategy as it probes and searches through the vegetation.
