Large flocks of flamingoes gather at Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan, India, feeding and moving across shallow saline waters. Pied Avocets (Recurvirostra avosetta) sweep their upturned bills side to side through the water, while Black-tailed Godwits (Limosa limosa) probe the mud for invertebrates. The mixed-species grouping occupies exposed flats and shallow pools, reflecting the productivity of this wetland habitat. Movement across the lake shows coordinated feeding and spacing between species. Flamingoes, including Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus), migrate to inland wetlands like Sambhar Lake during winter months, arriving from regions across western and central Asia.
