A Rose-ringed Parakeet, also known as the ring-necked parakeet, is seen in New Delhi. This medium-sized tropical parrot is recognized for its vibrant green plumage and long, tapered tail. The species shows clear sexual dimorphism—adult males typically display a distinct red and black neck ring, while females and juveniles have little to no visible ring. Native to Africa and South Asia, these parakeets have adapted exceptionally well to urban environments and are now found in cities around the world, including established populations in the UK. Common in parks, gardens, and tree-lined streets, they feed on fruits, seeds, and grains. The scene highlights their adaptability, appearance, and presence in both natural and urban ecosystems.
