Grey Francolins (Ortygornis pondicerianus), also known as Grey Partridges, move across open ground in Delhi, India, pecking repeatedly at the soil while foraging. The birds remain alert as they search for seeds, insects, and small invertebrates. Subtle head movements and short steps mark continuous feeding behaviour across the patch. The group maintains spacing while moving through the grassland. The sequence captures typical ground-foraging activity in an urban edge habitat. Ortygornis pondicerianus is a ground-dwelling bird native to the Indian subcontinent, commonly found in scrub, farmland, and semi-urban areas. It feeds on a mixed diet of seeds and insects and is often seen in small groups known as coveys. The species relies on camouflage and quick movement to avoid predators.
