As young White-breasted Waterhen chicks follow their Jalmurghi mother around, a covey of Teetar parents with their young brood forage for grass seeds in an open grassland at the Wilderness Orchard in New Delhi. Ka-teetar--ka-teetar calls rent the air! A Grey Partridge or Teetar (Francolinus pondicerianus or Grey Francolin) couple with their chicks from this season feed in our wildfilmsindia grasslands in Delhi. The chicks were born in April and by early July have already reached a good size, enough to protect and feed themselves. The titar call to each other in low call tones. After a successful breeding season, this Safed Titar family comes out - parent and chicks - to enjoy the monsoon-time termites or deemak in the ground.
