During the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar, groups of Kanwar yatri walks along the highway in a disciplined yet festive procession. Each devotee carries a kanwar, a decorated shoulder-borne frame holding pots of holy Ganga water collected from the river. Along with the kanwar, many yatris carry trishuls, saffron flags, rudraksha malas, bells, and images of Lord Shiva. Some also keep small drums, conch shells, and water bottles for the long journey. Large, well-decorated four-wheelers and trucks move slowly alongside the devotees, fitted with powerful DJ systems playing loud devotional songs and Shiva bhajans, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
