Devotees walk along the highway in Haridwar during the sacred Kanwar Yatra, dressed in saffron and moving with deep faith toward their destination. After collecting holy water from the Ganga River, they carry kanwars—decorated bamboo frames balanced on their shoulders, with two pots hanging on either side filled with Ganga jal. Along with the kanwar, many devotees also carry tridents (trishul), saffron flags, small idols or images of Lord Shiva, bells, rudraksha beads, and sacred threads. Some keep backpacks with food, water bottles, medicines, and basic supplies for the long journey. Chanting “Bol Bam,” the pilgrims turn the busy highway into a spiritual path of devotion, endurance, and collective faith.
