A Red-naped Ibis (Pseudibis papillosa), also known as the Indian Black Ibis, is observed in New Delhi, India. This striking bird is easily recognized by its glossy black plumage, long curved bill, and the distinctive patch of bare red skin on the back of its head, which gives the species its name. The Red-naped Ibis is native to the Indian subcontinent and is commonly found across India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. It typically inhabits open fields, agricultural land, grasslands, wetlands, and village outskirts, where it forages for food on the ground. Using its long, downward-curving bill, the ibis probes soil and shallow water to find prey such as insects, earthworms, small reptiles, frogs, and other invertebrates.
