The Red-wattled Lapwing (Vanellus indicus) is seen foraging near a muddy patch surrounded by low bushes in New Delhi. Its striking black-and-white plumage, red facial wattles, and sharp calls make it instantly recognizable. The bird moves alertly through the mud, emitting its characteristic loud chirping that often signals disturbance or communication with nearby flock members. Small chicks accompany the adult lapwing, staying close to the ground and blending with the earthy surroundings for protection.
