An Indian Stone-curlew (Burhinus indicus), also known as the Indian Thick-knee, is observed moving calmly through the natural habitat of Wilderness Orchard. The bird slowly walks across the ground, carefully lifting one leg at a time before placing it down and continuing forward with its characteristic deliberate stride. Easily recognized by its large yellow eyes, the Indian Stone-curlew is a ground-dwelling bird adapted to open grasslands, scrublands, and lightly wooded areas. Its sandy-brown plumage, marked with dark streaks and subtle facial patterns, provides excellent camouflage against dry soil, fallen leaves, and natural vegetation.
