A beautiful pair of Rufous Sibias (Heterophasia capistrata) is seen perched gracefully in the temperate Himalayan forest. Known for their rich rufous plumage, striking black facial mask, and long tails, these birds often move in pairs or small social groups. Their synchronized movements and soft whistling calls reflect strong pair bonding behavior, especially during the breeding season. Commonly found in mid-elevation forests of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, Rufous Sibias prefer oak, pine, and rhododendron habitats between 1,500–3,000 meters. They actively forage for insects, berries, nectar, and small fruits, frequently hopping between branches with agility.
