The sweltering North Indian summer heat and this Pond Heron drops by the swimming pool at a farmhouse in Delhi feeling like its Ibiza. Beak wide open the bird is feeling the heat and using its natural cooler. The behaviour is known as heat dissipation and keeps the temperature of birds down. The Heron looks confused at its own reflection on the water surface. Indian Pond Herons are common and now found in urban areas too. Notice the long feather from the head towards the body. It is called summer feathers as it starts showing in the summer months.
