The White-capped Redstart (Phoenicurus leucocephalus) is perched on a rusty iron bar, gently wagging its tail while resting. This striking Himalayan bird is recognised by its glossy black body, bright white crown, and deep rufous-red underparts and tail. Commonly found near mountain streams, it often flicks its tail rhythmically, a typical redstart behaviour linked to alertness and insect hunting. Even while calm, it remains watchful and ready to dart after prey.
