A striking White-capped Redstart (Phoenicurus leucocephalus) is seen resting on an iron railing top, producing sharp, clear calling notes while rhythmically wagging its tail. This bold and charismatic bird, commonly found along fast-flowing streams and rivers in the Himalayas, is instantly recognisable by its contrasting black body, bright chestnut underparts, and distinctive white crown and wing patches. Perched confidently on the iron surface, the redstart maintains an upright posture, frequently flicking and wagging its rich rufous tail — a characteristic behaviour of the species.
