Known after its call, which sounds very similar to the sound a coppersmith makes with his hammer, the Coppersmith or Red-breasted Barbet is a striking bird. Though primarily frugivorous, this birds can also be seen eating various insects. Unusually located right below two small stems of a bakain or Persian Lilac tree, this One Rupee coin sized nest-hole was created by a Crimson-breasted Barbet. The Colourful clown of the bird world is this cute Coppersmith Barbet sticking its neck of its nest-hole in the heart of New Delhi city, with squirrels and traffic noises melding in the urban city audioscape.
