At Sambhar Lake in Rajasthan, India — a winter haven for thousands of migratory birds — the jheel comes alive with color and movement. The scene feels almost dreamlike as the calm, reflective water mirrors the birds wading gracefully through the shallows. The foreground and middle ground are filled with Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus), their soft pink plumage glowing against the still surface of the lake. Nearby, Northern Shoveler ducks forage actively, heads submerged or bills sweeping side-to-side as they filter tiny aquatic plants and animals from the water. Adding to the beauty are Black-winged Stilts (Himantopus himantopus), delicately stepping through the shallows on long slender legs, while a flock of Ruffs (Calidris pugnax) gathers nearby, creating constant gentle motion
