A flock of Demoiselle Cranes (Grus virgo) gathered around a water body at Khichan Bird Sanctuary, a globally known wintering site for migratory cranes. The Demoiselle Crane is the smallest species among all cranes. Thousands of these birds visit the Khichan region annually during migration season. Individual cranes are seen resting, sleeping, preening their feathers, standing alert, and slowly flapping their wings near the wetland area. The open desert surroundings and water source provide a suitable habitat for congregation and roosting. The footage highlights migratory bird behaviour and winter activity at one of Rajasthan’s well-known birding destinations.
