A Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos macei) perched naturally on a tree branch in Motidhar, Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India. The bird displays the species’ distinctive black-and-white pied pattern across its wings and back, along with a prominent white shoulder patch and reddish vent beneath the tail. Native to the Indian subcontinent, this medium-sized woodpecker is commonly found in Himalayan foothill forests, orchards, wooded gardens, and mixed woodland habitats. Like other woodpeckers, it uses its strong chisel-shaped beak to search tree bark for insects and larvae. The footage captures the alert posture and characteristic plumage details of this native Indian forest bird in its natural Himalayan environment.
