A Spotted Owlet (Athene brama) peering cautiously from a natural circular cavity in the trunk of a mature tree. Sheltered within its hollow nest, the small owl slowly leans forward, revealing its expressive face and striking bright yellow eyes. Remaining alert during daylight, it carefully scans its surroundings with slow, deliberate head movements before curiously emerging farther from the entrance. Its mottled brown-and-white plumage blends remarkably well with the rough tree bark, providing excellent camouflage against potential predators.
