The Ploceus philippinus or the Common Baya Weaver Bird is one that is much eulogized in Indian mythology and a common resident of village outskirts and around farmlands. Not a common sight these days, what with rampant urbanization. This colony of Baya nests hang off a Neem tree in Karnataka and sway in the gentle breeze.
