Baya Weaver Birds favour tall aloof palm trees for their pendulous nests. They obtain ideal leaf fronds that can suspend their nests firmly and also obtain fibre from the leaves for their nests! Male Baya Weaver Birds (Ploceus philippinus) are busy weaving nest with palm fronds on the leaves itself. The males also display themselves to the females by perching outside the nests. A detailed observation of the nest weaving process on film. Notice the birds ripping off strands of fibre from the palm leaves. The bird is also filmed knotting the strands of fibre.
