Snow-covered peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas rise above the rugged terrain near Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand. Dark rock faces, patches of melting snow and sparse vegetation cover the steep mountainside, where a narrow trail runs across the slope with people trekking along it. Below, the valley contains temporary shelters, tents and tarpaulin-covered structures used by pilgrims visiting Kedarnath. A footbridge crosses a mountain stream near the camp, while multi-storey buildings and lodges stand along the hillside. The clear sky provides a backdrop to the surrounding Himalayan landscape.
