Madhuganga Falls cascades through the rugged high-altitude landscape of the Garhwal Himalaya near Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. Located along the trekking route to Gandhi Sarovar, also known as Chorabari Lake, the waterfall is surrounded by steep mountain slopes, rocky terrain and towering Himalayan peaks. Gandhi Sarovar lies at approximately 3,900 metres above sea level, near the snout of the Chorabari Bamak Glacier. The surrounding landscape has been shaped by glacial activity, which has carved out mountain valleys and deposited extensive fields of rock and sediment. Water from the high mountain catchments feeds streams that contribute to the Mandakini river system, which flows through the Kedarnath valley before joining the Alaknanda at Rudraprayag.
