This night-time camera trap footage captures the Barking Deer (Muntiacus muntjak), also known as the Indian Muntjac, moving cautiously through the foothills of the Himalayas. Recorded using an automated infrared camera trap, the visuals reveal the deer emerging from darkness, pausing briefly, and then continuing its slow, alert movement through the forest floor. The reflective eye-shine and subtle body movements are characteristic of nocturnal ungulates navigating low-light environments. Barking Deer are shy, solitary, and primarily crepuscular to nocturnal, making camera traps one of the most effective tools for documenting their presence and behaviour.
