The bird appears vibrant green against the contrasting brown sandy background, making its movement and form stand out clearly in the frame. Using its strong legs and sharp bill, the bee-eater digs into the soft earth, gradually creating a tunnel that will serve as a nesting cavity. Asian Green Bee-eaters (Merops orientalis) are known cavity nesters, excavating burrows in sandy banks, river cliffs, earthen mounds, or soft soil.
