This footage captures an Indian Palm Squirrel (Funambulus palmarum) resting in a fully extended, flattened posture commonly known as "splooting." In this position, the squirrel presses its body against a cooler surface while stretching its legs outward, a behaviour often observed during warm weather to help regulate body temperature. The animal's distinctive grayish-brown coat is marked by three pale longitudinal stripes running from head to tail along its back. Its long, bushy tail extends straight behind the body, remaining largely motionless while the squirrel rests. Indian Palm Squirrels are common across parks, gardens, and urban green spaces, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and other food sources.
