A Grey Hornbill female is weak and thin, and struggles to release herself from nest-hole after one month of incarceration. After hours of struggle, she gives up to catch her breath and rest, and withdraws back into the nest hole. With city breeding hornbills finding hollow tree trunk nest holes at a premium, these poor Hornbills must take what they get. And this one was tight and insufficient for space, at best... She tried her best and has brought up her brood within the nest hole, in the terrible summer heat of Delhi! A male Grey Hornbill regurgitates Neem leaves that he has stored in his gizzard, in order to serve them up to his female who has blocked herself into a nest hole in a hollow tree trunk, until her chicks are born. She uses these astringent Neem leaves as a natural insecticid
