The herald of Indian monsoons and the spectacular metallic purple sheen of the male Purple Sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus ) has worn off. Perched on a Hamelia Patens shrub, remnants of the metallic bluish sheen is seen in the breast and back region. Notice the bird sit patiently next to the flower and putting its curved beak inside the flower. Sunbirds use their tongues inside the beak to lap nectar.
