A male Himalayan Monal (Lophophorus impejanus) perched on a thick, moss-covered tree branch within a Himalayan forest. Known as the state bird of Uttarakhand and often referred to as the "Jewel of the Himalayas," the species is renowned for its striking iridescent plumage. The bird's metallic-green crest, vivid facial markings, and shimmering feathers reflect different colours as light filters through the forest canopy. Native to the high-altitude forests and alpine regions of the Himalayas, the Himalayan Monal is commonly found in coniferous and mixed woodlands. The calm perch offers a detailed view of its distinctive appearance and natural behaviour. The footage highlights one of the most recognisable and colourful pheasant species inhabiting the mountain ecosystems of South Asia.
