The Lapwing when it lays eggs in 55 degrees Celcius heat and must sit on them to cool them and humidify them, instead of warming them like birds. Once hatched, the mother regurgitates up food to feed the new-born chick. Three brownish eggs with darker rosettes and the first one cracks open to a feisty young chick. The female bird quickly sits on the hatchling to protect the youngling. The female sits and waits for the other two eggs to hatch as well. While the newly hatched chick is lucky as fledging will only take a few hours and it will be able to walk on its own. The sun is up and the mother leaves the chick on its own as the little birdie basks in the sun.
