This footage captures a small flock of Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) gathered along the edge of Sambhar Lake, near the expansive salt pans that define this unique wetland landscape. The tall birds are seen standing and slowly moving through shallow water, their long pink legs and pale bodies contrasting beautifully against the white and grey textures of the salt-encrusted ground. Sambhar Lake, India’s largest inland saltwater lake, is an important habitat for migratory waterbirds, especially flamingos that arrive seasonally to feed and rest. In the footage, the flamingos appear calm and unhurried, occasionally adjusting posture or lowering their heads toward the water, reflecting typical resting and foraging behaviour.
