A Red-wattled Lapwing strolls gracefully along the edge of dirty water, its long yellow legs lifting lightly with every step. It pecks at tiny insects, pauses to preen its feathers, and continues walking with alert elegance. Patches of green grass add freshness to the scene as the bird explores its surroundings with confidence. Known for its loud “did-you-do-it” call, this species is widely found across South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and parts of Southeast Asia. Adaptable and sharp-eyed, the Red-wattled Lapwing thrives near wetlands, fields, and open habitats.
