A Black Kite is perched on a tree branch at Wilderness Orchard. Despite its name, this medium-sized raptor shows dark brown plumage with irregular light-brown or rufous markings rather than pure black. It has a dark bill and an alert posture typical of birds of prey. Known as an opportunistic hunter and frequent scavenger, the Black Kite is widely distributed across Eurasia and Australasia, and is very common throughout the Indian subcontinent. The video captures its appearance, behavior, and urban-natural habitat setting.
