Unlike pollinators that help trees and plants, parakeets destroy seed pods and eat up the seeds instead of dispersing them, in many cases. In the case of the invasive Lantana camara, they actually aid in dispersal, but in a country like India that means spreading a noxious parasitic foreign invasive weed species. Parakeets gorge on Teak tree (Tectona grandis) seed pods: Plant pests prey on trees too
