An alert Indian Pond Heron takes a quiet moment to preen and groom its feathers within a wetland habitat. The bird’s streaked earthy-brown plumage blends naturally with the surrounding reeds, mud, and vegetation, demonstrating the excellent camouflage for which this species is well known. While resting near the water’s edge, the heron carefully cleans and arranges its feathers with precise movements while remaining attentive to its surroundings. Indian Pond Herons are commonly found near ponds, marshes, lakes, and wetlands across the Indian subcontinent, where they often remain motionless while hunting or resting. The footage captures natural grooming behaviour, feather maintenance, and the subtle camouflage adaptations of this wetland bird species.
