Large numbers of Demoiselle Cranes are gathered in Khichan, a village known for hosting migratory crane populations during the winter season. The birds are seen feeding on grain spread across open ground, while others take flight across the sky in coordinated groups. Their calls and wing movements create a distinct soundscape within the dry landscape of western Rajasthan. Khichan has become internationally recognised for community-supported feeding practices that attract thousands of Demoiselle Cranes migrating from Central Asia. The open desert surroundings and feeding grounds provide suitable resting habitat for the migratory birds. The footage captures feeding behaviour, flight activity, and natural vocalisations of the cranes in their seasonal gathering area.
