Thousands of migratory Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo), locally known as Kurja or Koonj, gather at the famous Pakshi Chugga Ghar bird feeding enclosure in Khichan village, Rajasthan. Every winter, these elegant birds arrive from Central Asia to feed at this community-managed conservation site, where local volunteers provide grain daily. Vast congregation of cranes across the sandy feeding ground, with the traditional desert architecture of Khichan forming the backdrop.
