Kohli: Neither Rupin nor I have had a discussion about Everest and certainly not about the difficult and very painful episode he had which is captured in an article which some of you may have read called Nights of Agony it was very painful for him. Also, I think there was a physical cost to it I think. He never felt so troubled and never had such a difficult time. Captain M.S. Kohli says "Well my memory is not as strong as it used to be but what I remember now is that there are three nights we spent at 28,000 together. I think this is perhaps the only time in the history of mountaineering that somebody had spent three nights at 28,000 feet. So those three nights were really memorable and on the second night our oxygen was finished and we had just one
