Kanwar Yatri walks on the highway during Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar participate in one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages, devoted to Lord Shiva. The devotees, often dressed in saffron attire, walk long distances from their hometowns to Haridwar carrying sacred offerings known as Kanwar, which are decorated bamboo poles with water pots from holy rivers, usually the Ganga or other sacred rivers. Alongside the Kanwar, many pilgrims carry prasad (holy offerings), flags, and small religious icons, chanting devotional songs and hymns along the way. Some also carry bags with food, water, and essentials for the journey, while others have musical instruments to accompany group prayers.
