A Black Kite (Milvus migrans) perched on a tree branch within Wilderness Orchard, New Delhi, India. This medium-sized bird of prey is one of the most widespread raptors across the Indian subcontinent and is particularly common in urban and semi-urban environments. The bird displays dark brown plumage with streaked feather patterns, a hooked bill, and keen eyesight adapted for detecting prey and carrion. Black Kites frequently use elevated perches to monitor their surroundings and locate feeding opportunities. Their adaptability has enabled them to thrive alongside human settlements, including major cities such as Delhi.
