An Indian male peafowl (Pavo cristatus) takes flight from a branch to another, spreading its wide colorful wings, in a most laborious flight. The male peafowl is unique with colourful plumage and a long tail which is absent in females. But what an effort such a flight much entail! A male Scaly-bellied woodpecker (Picus squamatus), digs the ground and feeds on termites. The woodpecker's diet includes termites, ants and larvae. See the ants walking on the bird's back itself! An Indian Roller (Coracias benghalensis) perches on a branch. It is the state bird of Karnataka. We missed it taking off, though!
